Questions
Frequently asked questions about attorneys in Iran
Answers to what individuals, foreign companies and Iranians abroad ask before they instruct an attorney in Iran.
Can you represent me in Iran if I live in another country?
Yes. Much of our work is for clients outside Iran. With a properly drafted power of attorney, an Iranian attorney can appear for you before courts, registries and other authorities while you remain abroad, and we keep you informed in English at each stage.
Do you act for foreign companies as well as individuals?
We do. We advise foreign companies on contracts with Iranian parties, disputes, debt recovery and their dealings with Iranian authorities, and we act for individuals on personal, family, inheritance and property matters.
What is the first step?
Write to us with a short description of the matter, the people or companies involved and any documents you already hold. We review it, tell you whether and how we can help, and set out the next steps before any work begins.
Will I need to travel to Iran?
In many matters you will not, because a power of attorney allows your attorney to act on your behalf. Whether personal attendance is ever needed depends on the specific procedure, and we tell you at the outset if that is likely.
What is a power of attorney and why do I need one?
It is the document by which you authorise someone to act in your name. In Iran it is usually required before an attorney can file, attend or sign on your behalf. We draft it to cover exactly what your matter needs.
How do I sign a power of attorney outside Iran?
The steps depend on your country of residence and the purpose of the document, and may include consular services, certification and translation. We explain the route that applies to you before you begin.
Can you help heirs who live in different countries?
Yes. We coordinate the documents each heir must sign and the order of steps, so the estate can be settled efficiently.
Can you help a foreign company recover a debt in Iran?
Yes. We start with an assessment and a formal demand, negotiate where possible and, if needed, take proceedings and pursue enforcement.
How are your fees agreed?
Fees depend on the nature and scope of the matter. We confirm the basis of our fees in writing before any work begins, so there are no surprises.
Is my information kept confidential?
Yes. Everything you share with us is treated as confidential.
